An officer of the Nigerian Army has said that photos
being circulated in the media of a rocket and bomb making factory
supposedly owned by Boko Haram are fake.
The disclosure was reportedly made to Vanguard by a military source close to Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai who said the photos were meant to spread panic.
“The
truth is that Boko Haram have been seriously dealt with and decimated.
They are running helter skelter. They are now powerless,” the source said.
“Our
troops are really empowered with enough arms and ammunition. No more
running away and because of this, Boko Haram is looking for any means to
remain relevant,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the army also announced that it killed four insurgents during a recent raid in a primary school in Borno State.
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the military to put an end to the insurgency by December 2015.
